BANGALORE: As the sun rises over this private facility, just 100 km off Bangalore, these agile trainees bound out of bed and exercise for one hour. After the rigorous training, they wolf down breakfast, have rest or go for a walk. They have a siesta in the afternoon. In the evening, it is back to exercise for one hour.
These are four-legged combatants being trained in drug and explosive detection, security operations etc by two Bangalore-based IT pros, in a one of its kind facility in the country.
The dogs — Belgian, German and Dutch Shepherds — are being trained at Stealth Paws. "Our dogs come from some of the best working lines. Our vision is to prepare the Shepherds for security purposes as well as internal social control, and work them to cope with changing situations. We also want to preserve the royal breed of the three Shepherds and work them as they were originally meant to be," Masood Ahmed, co-owner of the 20-acre dog training facility, told TOI.
Balaji Venkatraman, who also owns the facility, helps Masood in planning and executing the project.
Stealth Paws offers dogs trained to order. These dogs are not mass produced, nor are they trained by unknown personnel using inhuman techniques. Each young prospect is chosen from exceptional bloodlines, with raw talent to match.
