Bhopal: A 30-year-old man committed theft at his own mother's house, stealing Rs 70,000 in cash and jewellery in Shahdol district. Police arrested the accused and his accomplice and recovered the stolen items.
The incident took place at Dogra Tola village under Sidhi police station in the district. The accused have been identified as Rangu, 30, and his accomplice Ramchandra, 31. On May 1, the 55-year-old mother of the accused, Rangu, complained to the police that there was a theft at her house. Cash amounting to Rs 70,000, along with jewellery including 18 old silver coins, was stolen. She suspected her son of the theft. Police registered a case and started investigations.
"The accused was arrested, and the entire stolen amount and jewellery were recovered. The accused is the son of the victim. However, he lives in another house in the same village, while his parents live in a different house," Sidhi police station incharge, Rajkumar Mishra, told TOI. The accused suspected that his mother would give her entire savings to his sister, and so he committed the theft, police said.
