Elderly man dies by suicide

Bhopal: A 61-year-old man allegedly died by suicide in Govindpura on Monday night. No suicide note was recovered, but it was revealed that he was distressed over his prolonged respiratory illness. Govindpura police registered a case and started investigations.
Investigation Officer ASI Rakesh Mishra said that the deceased, Babulal Batham, 61, a resident of Govt Quarter Block Number 7 located near Chetak Bridge in Gautam Nagar, worked in the Madhya Pradesh Development Corporation. He took the extreme step by hanging himself in a vacant flat above his flat on Monday morning.
Around 9:30 am, when the family members spotted him hanging, they rushed him to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Acting on information, Govindpura police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. His family told police that he suffered from various respiratory illnesses and was distressed over it.
