Land compensation will be given to rightful owner: Singrauli collector to HC
Bhopal/Jabalpur: The Singrauli collector appeared in person before the MP High Court and gave an undertaking on oath that compensation for land acquired by the district administration — wrongly deposited in another person's account — would be retrieved and paid to the rightful owner within a month.
Chitrasen alias Shastri Dwivedi from village Chhiva in Singrauli, in a petition filed in the HC, said his land was acquired by the administration for laying of Lalitpur-Singrauli railway track but after the acquisition, the amount of compensation was not transferred to his bank account but to the account of Devi Prasad Dwivedi.
When the administration failed to present a reply to the petition, a bench of Justice Vivek Agarwal had imposed a cost of Rs 5,000 on the state govt on Jan 8. In its reply presented on Jan 20, the district administration said the amount was transferred to Devi Prasad because the land owner Chitrasen had himself asked for it.
Expressing displeasure over the reply, the court had sought to know how the amount of compensation could be transferred to the account of a person who doesn't own the land even if the land owner mandated it.
The court also warned to order an FIR in the case while summoning the Singrauli collector to appear in court in person and give an undertaking. The Singrauli collector appeared in the court on Tuesday and gave an undertaking following which the court deferred hearing in the case to Feb 28.
Advocate Lavkush Mishra appeared in the case for the petitioner.
