CHANDIGARH: Three miscreants assaulted a 29-year-old man and robbed him of Rs 11,400 in Hallomajra on Saturday night.
Arjun Chauhan, a resident of Hallomajra, said in his police complaint, “I was going to a department store to clear its dues and my landlord’s house to pay the rent when three men waylaid me around 9.30pm. They said they wanted money to buy liquor.”
When Arjun said he had nothing, the trio started searching him. “After finding Rs 11,400 on me, they attacked me on head with a iron chain and fled,” he added.
An injured Arjun called up his mother, who sounded the police. A PCR took Arjun to GMCH-32. He was discharged after treatment.
Arjun’s mother Sugia Chauhan said, “My son is unemployed and has not been keeping well for the past six months. I had given him money to pay the department store owner and our landlord. The three accused are drug addicts and roam the area during night hours.”
Alleging police apathy, she said, “After admitting my son to the hospital, no cop came to record his statement.”
The Sector 31 additional SHO said, “We have received a complaint and are looking into the matter. A case will be registered after an investigation.”
