Adani row: Cong protests in 3 states for JPC probe
Chandigarh/Shimla: The Congress on Monday staged protests across Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh to seek a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) for inspecting short-seller Hindenburg’s allegations of stock manipulation against Adani Group.
During the Punjab Congress protest in Chandigarh, police had to use water cannon for crowd control. State party president Amrinder Singh Raja Waring led this march from Punjab Congress Bhavan in Sector 15, raising slogans against the BJP, while police put up barricades to stop the protesters and rounded up a few of them for a while.

Warring accused the central government of risking the savings of the poor and middle classes to let the Adani Group do its stock manipulation. He claimed that: “The BJP has ordered no inquiry since its intent is to cover up the scam. The Congress wants a JPC to look into this.”
In Haryana, ‘Hath Se Hath Jodo’ campaign convener Subhash Chopra led senior legislators in a march to Raj Bhavan in the company of state party president Udai Bhan, and Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda. The group of 150, which included three working presidents of the party, crossed police barricades. Two-dozen current and former legislators and MPs courted arrest after handed over a memorandum to the governor’s representative.
On the call of the All-India Congress Committee, the party unit in Himachal Pradesh gheraoed Raj Bhavan in Shimla. State party president Pratibha Singh led the protest march. The unit handed governor Shiv Pratap Shukla a memorandum for the President.
