AMBALA: In connection with the shootout case of
Divakar alias Jeetu of Kumhar Mandi, Ambala Cantonment, the crime investigation agency (CIA)-II of Ambala police on Friday arrested two accused persons who conducted his reconnaissance (recce).
The police said that the accused have been identified as Mohit alias Mayank (19) of Kacha Bazar, Ambala Cantt and Kunal Kumar (18) of Chidimar Mohalla, Ambala Cantt.
Both the accused were produced in the district court on Saturday, which granted their three-day police remand for further investigation.
Divakar was shot dead in broad daylight by two bike-borne assailants who pumped eight bullets in his body near Hathikhana Temple in Ambala Cantt on June 15.
On his sister Hans Kumari's complaint, the police had booked nine accused identified as Saurabh alias Mau,
Arjun alias Ajju, Shammi Pandit, Sonu alias Gajju, Monu Dagar, Aman Pappu, Arjit, Splendour Singh, and Randhir.
The crime was caught on the camera, in which, two assailants were seen shooting at Divakar. On the basis of the camera footage, the cops have identified the shooters as Saurabh Mau and Arjun Ajju, who are also the prime accused in this case.
To investigate this case, Ambala senior superintendent of police (SSP) Hamid Akhtar had constituted a joint team under the leadership of Ambala Cantt deputy superintendent of police (DSP)
Ram Kumar. The CIA-II being part of a joint team managed to arrest Mohit and Kunal, allegedly for conducting recce of Divakar.
CIA-II in-charge inspector Subhash said, "On the directions Saurabh and Arjun, both Mohit and Kunal conducted recce of Divakar. They have been taken on three-day remand from police and further investigation is being done."
