Gang duping govt job aspirants busted, 5 arrested
Chandigarh: The Haryana Police crime branch claims to have busted an inter-state racket behind duping people aspiring for government jobs with the arrest of five accused. The accused targeted job-seekers across multiple states — Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab — promising them positions in government departments, including Food Corporation of India (FCI), Army, ITBP, BSF and PWD among others, defrauding them of Rs 16.50 lakhs.
An official of the state police said a special investigation team (SIT), led by SP Suresh Kumar was formed on the directions of ADGP (State Crime Branch) O P Singh. After five months of work, gathering evidence and a thorough investigation, five individuals involved in the racket were nabbed.
Among the arrested accused, two are from Uttar Pradesh, two from Delhi and one from Haryana.
These include mastermind Deepak Rathi, from Muzaffarnagar in UP, Rahul, a resident of Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh and Vishnu Chauhan, a resident of Katesara in Rohtak district.
The arrested individuals were found in possession of Rs 4 lakh in cash, mobile phones, computers and pen drives.
Three Bhiwani residents — Ravindra, Vikram, and Pradeep — had lodged a police complaint, saying they had applied for the post of godown attendant in the FCI and were deceived into providing a security deposit to secure the job. The accused took Rs 5.5 lakh from each complainant.
According to the complainant, the victims were issued appointment letters and underwent training in Ferozepur, Punjab.
They submitted documents and were issued identity cards during the training period. Later, they were made to work as part of training for three months and promised prompt job placement.
No salary was provided to the complainants during this period.
