PANCHKULA: Three persons were fatally shot in the parking lot of a hotel during a birthday celebration in the early hours of Monday.
Two men from Delhi and a woman from Hisar Cantonment, identified as Delhi natives Vineet alias Vicky, Tirath, and Jind native Vandana (all aged between 20-25 years), were seated inside a Scorpio car when two unidentified assailants opened fire, killing them instantly.
Three assailants carried out the attack. Another female companion was present with the victims, but she managed to escape without any injuries.
The victims were among a group of friends attending a birthday party at Hotel Sultanate on Morni Road in Pinjore. While the party was in progress, the trio remained in the parked vehicle.
Suddenly, two assailants arrived in a car and unleashed a barrage of gunfire, firing approximately 15-16 rounds. Vicky sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and all three individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The two young men were staying in Sector 20 in Panchkula.
Senior police officials immediately responded to the incident. The police are actively investigating the case, collecting CCTV footage from the hotel and interviewing the deceased's friends and other party attendees. The bodies were transported to Sector-6 Hospital in Panchkula for post-mortem examinations.
Sources said it was a case of an old dispute. Pinjore SHO Soumbir Dhaka said, "We are working on finding the cause of the incident. We are trying to trace the accused."
