Hosur forest division personnel along with ornithologists and volunteers carried out the census in 40 locations in the district. The locations covered included KRP Dam, Ramanaicken Lake, Parur Big Lake and Thally Lake, wildlife warden Bakan Jagdish Sudhakar told reporters on Monday.

The team recorded species such as the pied kingfisher, common iora, green imperial pigeon, coppersmith barbet and Asian woollyneck.
