Chennai customs seizes gold worth Rs 2.19 crore from passengers’ laptops, tablets

CHENNAI: Customs officials at Chennai international airport on Wednesday seized 5.06 kg of

gold

-- worth Rs 2.19 crore – from 10

passengers

.

The passengers had hidden gold foils in used

laptops

and

tablets

.

The officials also seized electronic goods worth Rs 48.6 lakh from the passengers, who arrived here from Dubai in Emirates (EK-544) and SriLankan (UL 121, Colombo transit) flights.

Five passengers were arrested. Further investigations were on.
