Chennai: Restrictions on real money online games in TN are likely to stay as the Union and state govts have sought more time to respond to gaming companies' plea questioning the state's power to bring such restrictions.
The TN govt rule mandates Aadhaar-based verification for playing real money online games and imposes time restrictions.
On Wednesday, after counsel for Union and state govts sought more time to file responses, a division bench of Justice S M Subramaniam and Justice K Rajasekhar adjourned the hearing to March 21. On Feb 26, the bench refused to pass an interim stay against operation of the GO in this regard.
The issue pertains to a batch of pleas moved by Play Games 24x7 Private Limited, Head Digital Works Private Limited, Junglee Games India Private Limited, and others.
