Tiruvallur SP transferred

CHENNAI: Tiruvallur district superintendent of police, N K Senthamaraikannan, has been transferred and posted as SP of the anti-dacoity cell CID in place of M V Jayagowri. M Pandian, deputy commissioner of police, Anna Nagar, has been transferred and posted in his place.
Senthamaraikannan's transfer comes in the wake of a controversy over the death of a policeman from Tiruvallur district who had been assigned for duty at Thiruvannamalai recently for the Karthigai Deepam festival.The sudden death of a colleague while on duty provoked several policemen, particularly those from Tiruvallur district, to picket the government hospital. The policemen, who were later pacified and sent back home, had alleged that they had been put on rigorous duty hours.
Jayagowri has been posted as deputy commissioner of police, traffic, while T S Anbu, who was holding the post, has been transferred and posted as deputy commissioner of police, Anna Nagar.
