Addressing the media, Gukesh confirmed that he will not compete at the World Rapid and Blitz Championships in New York later this month. "I will not be playing in it," said Gukesh.

Talking about the blunder that Ding committed in the 14th and last game of the WCC, which handed the Indian the crown, Gukesh said: "If you play at such a high level and with such high intensity... you are playing the final game of the World Championship, mistakes can happen."
