Man murdered by girlfriend’s husband in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: A 42-year-old man was murdered by his girlfriend's husband at Teacher's Colony near Chinniyampalayam in the city on Wednesday.
According to police, the victim, Mahendran, was living with Vanipriya, 38, and her two children in a residence at Teacher's Colony. Vanipriya has separated from her husband, Prabakaran, 40, though their legal separation was not finalised.
On Wednesday morning, Prabakaran visited Vanipriya, when Mahendran and her two children were present. Following a heated argument, Prabhakaran allegedly attacked Mahendran with a sickle, killing him on the spot, before fleeing the spot with his two children. Vanipriya, who was also injured in the attack, was admitted to a govt hospital, where her condition is stable. The Peelamedu police said an investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
