DEHRADUN: Major Beena Tiwari, 28, whose photograph went viral three days ago after it was posted by the
Indian Army on its Twitter handle from a parafield hospital in quake-hit Turkey, is a third-generation soldier from Dehradun.

Tiwari is part of the 99-member medical team which left for Turkiye on February 7 to contribute in relief and rescue work under the government of India's "
Operation Dost" initiative.
Maj Tiwari's mother, Janki, said that they are able to speak to her just for a "few minutes a day".
Speaking to TOI about his daughter serving the needy in Turkiye, Sub Maj Mohan Tiwari (Retd) said on Monday, "We are proud of her... she is serving the affected people of that country in this hour. She is a third-generation
Army officer from our family. Without any doubt she is facing challenges well while keeping pride of the uniform intact."

Her father said that having grown up in the family of Army officers, "she was aware of the respect and challenges the uniform brings". He said, "My daughter always wanted to join the Army and realised her dream while pursuing her MBBS from Army College of Medical Sciences in Delhi. She had joined the Army Medical Corps in 2018 with her first posting in Dibrugarh. While serving in the Army, I worked for the pride of the country and the institution. Glad that Beena is doing the same. Her husband, too, is a Major in the AMC."
Maj Tiwari's mother, Janki, said: "It is she who calls as we understand that she is busy with her duty. Without disturbing her much, we only ask about her well-being."
