Two killed in separate road accidents in Haridwar

Two people were killed in different road accidents in Haridwar on Tuesday. In the first accident, 25-year-old Rohit Kumar was riding with his friend Puneet Sharma on Haridwar-Bijnor highway when an unknown vehicle hit the two-wheeler they were riding from behind.

HARIDWAR: Two people were killed in different road accidents in Haridwar on Tuesday. In the first accident, 25-year-old Rohit Kumar was riding with his friend Puneet Sharma on Haridwar-Bijnor highway when an unknown vehicle hit the two-wheeler they were riding from behind.
The two youths are residents of Uttar Pradesh’s Modi Nagar in Ghaziabad. After the incident, the two youths were taken to a local hospital.

SHO of Shyampur, Pradeep Mishra, said, “The accident took place near Shyampur petrol pump. On information our team rushed to the spot and the injured men were taken to the district hospital where doctors declared Rohit Kumar brought dead. Puneet has been shifted to a higher center and he is undergoing treatment. We are trying to identify the vehicle that hit the bike from behind.”
Another incident was reported from Haridwar-Delhi highway near Jatwada bridge under the jurisdiction of Jawalapur police station in which 30-year-old Vimlesh Devi, a resident of Deoband in Saharanpur district was killed. She was shifted to local hospital where she died during treatment. According to the police she was hit by a two wheeler from behind.
Police said that around 195 people were killed in road accidents in Haridwar last year and most of them took place on the Haridwar-Delhi highway where widening work is going on.
Early this year, seer Mahant Bhagwan Das and his disciple were killed in an accident and three others suffered serious injuries when the car they were travelling in overturned near Shani Dev temple due to incomplete construction works of Haridwar-Delhi national highway.
In a separate accident, a 30-year old woman from Panipat, Haryana, was killed in a road accident near Bhupatwala of city police station while another 20-year old man died in February near Bahadarbad on the outskirts of the city after a dumper crushed him.
