'Oscar for worst airline in every category': BJP's Jaiveer Shergill takes dig at Air India

BJP spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill criticizes Air India’s services, asserting it merits an 'Oscar for the worst airline'. His complaints highlight issues like broken seats and poor customer service. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had a similar experience, prompting Union Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu to demand an investigation.
'Oscar for worst airline in every category': BJP's Jaiveer Shergill takes dig at Air India
NEW DELHI: After Union agriculture minister and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill has now taken a dig at Air India, stating that it deserves an "Oscar for the worst airline."

Expressing his deep dissatisfaction on social media platform 'X', Shergill criticised the airline’s services.
In his post, he wrote, "If there were an Oscar-equivalent award for the worst airline, Air India would win in every category."
Shergill pointed out multiple shortcomings of the airline, describing its deteriorating condition with broken seats, poor staff, pathetic on-ground support, and an indifferent attitude towards customer service.
He further remarked that flying with Air India is rarely a pleasant experience, but "today, it has broken all records."
'Allotted broken seat'
Recently, Shivraj Singh Chouhan also faced issues with Air India when he was allotted a broken seat on a Bhopal-Delhi flight on Saturday. When he questioned how a damaged seat could be assigned to fare-paying passengers, the crew responded that they had informed the management not to sell the seat, yet it was still assigned.
“Today, (Feb 22) I had to come from Bhopal to Delhi... I had booked a ticket on Air India flight number AI 436. I was allotted seat number 8C. I went and sat on the seat, the seat was broken and sunken in. Sitting was uncomfortable,” Chouhan shared on X.
Ironically, the aircraft he flew on was a year-old Airbus A321 (VT-RTB), raising concerns about the airline’s maintenance standards.
Union Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu addressed the issue, stating, “We spoke to Air India on this issue and instructed them to take necessary action. From our side, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will also be looking into the details of the matter promptly. And I have personally spoken to Shivraj ji also.”
