Permission for every location in Delhi makes shoot hectic for film’s crew
The cast and crew of DNA Mein Gandhiji, a love story with a background of political satire, completed their shoot in Delhi three days before Gandhi Jayanti. The film’s director, lyricist Sandeep Nath who has penned songs like Sun Raha Hai Na Tu, told us, “I came to Delhi last month and had applied at the ASI office to get permission to shoot at Purana Qila.

We have shot 30 scenes in Delhi and it was quite hectic because for every location, you need to get permission from the authorities – be it the traffic police, the mall authorities or the market area. It’s only then that you realize how important single window entry is for shooting anywhere. It was quite hectic because the whole procedure took time.”

Boishali Sinha, production designer of the film, told us that since they are dealing with a Delhi story, it was important to shoot here. She said, “We have finished our Delhi schedule. In the last one week, we shot at various locations – India Gate, Chandni Chowk and Punjabi Bagh. In fact, we will also be creating a few locations in Mumbai as it wasn’t possible to shoot in places like Lodhi estate. But I can’t create Sarojini Nagar or Lajpat Nagar market on set, so we had to shoot at real locations.”
