'Spotted husband, his friend, landlord in objectionable position’: A web of secrets behind Delhi woman's Murder
Two more suspects were arrested in the murder case of a 35-year-old woman found dead in a bed box in Vivek Vihar, New Delhi.
NEW DELHI: Police said on Sunday that two more suspects were arrested in a case involving the murder of a 35-year-old woman, who was found dead in a bed box at her rented accommodation in east Delhi's Vivek Vihar last week.
Further investigation revealed that she allegedly spotted her husband, his friend, and their landlord in an 'objectionable position'.
Both, the woman's husband (36), and his uncle, who allegedly helped him hide the body after the murder, were arrested, police said. Earlier, the landlord (65) and the husband's other male friend were arrested.
The gruesome discovery was made on March 28 when the neighbours alerted the police, complaining of a foul smell emanating from a house. The house was locked from the outside, and traces of blood were observed near the back door, prompting the police to break open the door.
During the search, police found a decomposed female body wrapped in a blanket, stuffed in a trolley bag, and concealed inside a bed storage compartment in the flat located in Satyam Enclave.
"The body was identified as that of a 35-year-old woman from Ludhiana, Punjab. Police registered a case and launched an investigation," said DCP Prashant Gautam.
A team comprising inspector Munish Kumar and others initially focused on locating the missing house owner, who was tracked down near a park in Anand Vihar. He disclosed the involvement of the woman's husband and his friend. The woman's husband was also arrested, but his friend boarded a train to Bihar. Police, however, apprehended him and his uncle at Aligarh station.
Police said, the accused conspired to murder the woman to prevent her from exposing them.
The woman and her husband came to Delhi from Ludhiana and were staying at the house of a tuition teacher. Last Sunday, she woke up to find her husband missing and went looking. Upon hearing some noise, she peeped through the window and found her landlord, her husband, and his friend in a "compromising position". She raised an alarm. The men throttled and bludgeoned her to death.
After the murder, the investigation revealed that the landlord had conducted online searches on methods for disposing of a dead body using chemicals. Police also discovered that he had looked for open manholes and drains near his residence, which confirmed his intention to dispose of the body.
