Wanted criminal injured in police encounter near Delhi's Prem Bari nala

A wanted criminal named Sahil Khan from Uttar Pradesh sustained a leg injury after an exchange of gunfire with police in New Delhi's Wazirpur Industrial Area. Khan was wanted for a theft case in Ashok Vihar and fired at officers who identified him during a surveillance operation.

NEW DELHI: A wanted criminal sustained a bullet injury in his leg following an exchange of fire with police near Prem Bari Nala in the Wazirpur Industrial Area in the national capital, police said on Monday.
The suspect had executed a theft in Ashok Vihar before fleeing from authorities.
The police identified the suspect during questioning as Sahil Khan from Uttar Pradesh, who was sought in relation to FIR 67/25 with multiple sections filed at Ashok Vihar police station.
The Special Staff obtained intelligence on Sunday indicating the suspect's potential appearance in the Prembari Nala region of New Delhi.
Based on this information, authorities formed a combined unit comprising Special Staff and Ashok Vihar police station personnel.
Inspector Sombir reported that the team established surveillance at Prem Bari Nala and identified a dubious person at approximately 10 am.
Upon being instructed to halt, the individual discharged two rounds at the police force. The officers responded with gunfire, resulting in a leg injury to the suspect.
The investigation continues to progress.
