A two-day film carnival, World Movie Festival 2020 was held at Siri Fort on February 8 and 9. The festival was organised by arts and entertainment venture Navrasa Duende. The festival attracted various delegates, cine-philes and featured a line-up of six handpicked gems from a range of filmmaking achievements of the 1960s and 2000s across the globe.
These include Lawrence of Arabia by David Lean; A Separation by Asghar Farhadi; The Conformist by Bernardo Bertolucci; 2001: A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick; In the Mood For Love by Wong Kar-Wai and Le Mepris by Jean-Luc Godard.
“Our goal with the 4th edition of the NavrasaDuende World Movie Festival is twofold. One is to celebrate global filmmaking achievements from the 1920s to the present. This mighty range includes various cinematic movements across decades that each has influenced subsequent generations of filmmakers. The other is to initiate a large audience in India to the classics of world cinema. In sync with this objective, the February chapter of this year’s festival focused on the filmmaking milestones of the late twentieth and twenty-first century across the world,” said Dinesh B Singh, founder of Navrasa Duende.
