Niwari police station SHO Manoj Kumar said the accident took place around 2am on the Gang Nahar (Ganga canal) road on Saturday.
Though the vehicle that hit their car has not been identified, some witnesses said that a speeding truck hit the car from the front and its driver drove off, police said.
“Since it was dark, people couldn’t note down the number of the vehicle," the SHO said.
“Police got information about the crash from a passerby and a team was dispatched immediately. The car was being driven by Hooda, and Pushpendra was next to him. Both of them died on the spot. The injured passengers were sitting at the back,” he added.

The car’s chassis was mangled from the front, and Hooda’s body had to be retrieved after cutting through the metal.
“We used a cutter to take out Hooda’s body. Lokesh and Uday were taken to a nearby hospital, but since their condition is still serious, both of them were referred to a hospital in Delhi for further treatment,” SHO Kumar said.
Police said they’ve sent the two bodies for autopsy and the reports are awaited. Pushpendra is survived by his wife and two children, and Deepak was supposed to get married by the end of this year.
“On the basis of complaints made by both the victims’ family members, an FIR has been lodged against an unknown person under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the IPC. Police are checking the CCTV footage of nearby areas to trace the accused,” Kumar said.
