Based on the documents produced and the replies filed by the parties, the coastal authority will decide whether they should be stopped from carrying out commercial activities, advocate general Devidas Pangam told media after the hearing on Monday.

The high court is hearing a PIL seeking the sealing and demolition of structures operating blatantly and without permission, in violation of the law, on Agonda beach, which is a notified turtle-nesting site under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972.

The high court also asked govt to give the status of the finalisation of the notification, which will ensure protection to turtle nesting sites.

The draft has been issued under the CRZ notification and has a plan with measures to be taken to protect the turtle nesting sites, he said.
