Youth Cong demands judicial probe into job scam

Margao: The Goa Pradesh Youth Congress on Friday called for a judicial commission, led by a retired high court judge, to probe the cash-for-jobs scam. They also demanded that future state govt recruitments be done “under the watchful eye of the high court”.
At a press conference, Goa Pradesh Youth Congress President Joel Andrade said the cash-for-jobs scandal was “massive” and “unheard of,” stating it has shaken public trust and involves several high-profile individuals, including those linked to chief minister Pramod Sawant’s administration.
Andrade said that those arrested had close ties to BJP and these arrests were “just the tip of the iceberg,” suggesting the involvement of MLAs and ministers through “commission or omission”.
He also referenced a PWD job scam from Dec 2021, where current revenue minister Atanasio Monserrate alleged that jobs were being sold for Rs 25-35 lakh and candidates were told to leave answer papers blank in govt exams.
Andrade said there was enough evidence to prove the scam and everything would be revealed “only if we have a judicial commission to investigate this scam”.
“The scale of this job scam is unprecedented in Goa’s history,” he said. He demanded immediate action and warned against any attempts to politicise the issue, insisting that those responsible must be held accountable.
