AAP, JD(S), independents fail to make any impact in Dharwad district

DHARWAD: The voting pattern in the seven assembly constituencies in Dharwad district indicate that the voters have chosen to back either of the two major national parties - BJP and Congress.
Though AAP, JD(S), KRPP, SUCI and independents among others were in the fray they have failed to make any impact. Only in Kundgol, independent candidate SI Chikkanagoudar who was an aspirant for BJP ticket has managed to secure 19.62% of the votes polled.
The Congress has won four seats in Dharwad district while BJP has managed to win three. Apart from candidates from these two parties, there were 78 candidates contesting from AAP, JD(S), fringe parties and as independents.
While the BJP with 47.14 % of votes polled has the lion's share, Congress garnered 45.47% taking the total vote share to 92.61%. AAP, JD(S) and independents together have secured just 2.69% votes polled. NOTA accounts for 4.7%.
In Dharwad Rural, BJP has secured 43.04% votes, Congress 53.92% and JD(S) has got 0.56%. NOTA got 0.92% and eight independents together have secured 0.92% of the votes polled.
In Navalgund, BJP got a vote share of 39.45%, while Congress had 53.16% and JD(S) 4.27%. NOTA accounted for 0.69%. Nine independents in the fray together could manage just 1.25% of votes.
In Kundgol, BJP got 49.07%, Congress 26.28%, JD(S) 2.78% and AA.4%. NOTA got 0.65% and 10 independents together have polled 20.4%, which includes SI Chikkangoudar alone getting 19.62%.
In Kalghatagi, Congress got 52.86% followed by BJP 44.01%, JD(S) 0.55% and AA.31%. Eight independents together have got 1.56% and NOTA 0.7%.
In urban pockets too, the independents have failed to make any impact. In Hubballi-Dharwad West, BJP managed to get 59.45% followed by Congress 36.77%, JD(S) 0.7% and AA.46%. NOTA got 1.06% and 11 independents together got 1.51%. In Hubballi-Dharwad Central, the vote share of BJP is 59.27%, Congress 37.89%, JD(S) 0.32% and AA.29%. NOTA got 0.78% and 12 independents together scored 1.52%. In Hubballi-Dharwad East, Congress secured 57.47%, BJP 35.69%, JD(S) 0.61% and AA.38%. NOTA got 0.54% and seven independents together secured 5.33%.
