HUBBALLI/BELAGAVI: Taking part in a roadshow and mega rally in Dharwad and Belagavi districts in the run-up to the assembly elections, Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday accused the
Congress and the JD(S) of dynasty politics and corruption.
"Congress only performs Gandhi family 'aarti', whereas JD(S) wants all of its family members in the party - grandfather, son, wives, grandson.
So, youths should ask if they have a place in that party," he told supporters gathered to cheer for the saffron party.
Claiming that the youth have a place only in the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the government has taken the country's pride to new heights at the global level. Addressing a rally in MK Hubli, Shah said there is no difference between the Congress and JD(S) because their ideologies are similar. "Both are deeply rooted in corruption, and they don't have any development vision."
The party had organised the events as part of BJP's Vijaya Sankalp Abhiyan at Kundagol in Dharwad and MK Hubli in Belagavi - two areas that fall under the assembly constituencies represented by Congress MLAs.
During the roadshow, Shah was flanked by chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, Union minister Pralhad Joshi, BJP parliamentary board member BS Yediyurappa, party's general secretary in-charge Arun Singh, state president Nalin Kumar Kateel and former CM Jagadish Shettar, among others.
The mega event was aimed at strengthening the party's base in Kittur-Karnataka region, which has been its major bastion, observers said.
Shah rode in a specially decorated open vehicle for over a kilometre from Basavanna Devara Mutt to Gali Mariyamma temple in Kundagol, amid loud cheers and waving of BJP flags by supporters and workers.
