Yuvanidhi Plus to train over 25k beneficiaries for job seekers
Hubballi: Skill development, entrepreneurship, and livelihood department launched ‘Yuvanidhi Plus,' a training initiative aimed at skilling 25,000 beneficiaries. In the first phase, government tool room and training centres were tasked with training 2,075 candidates, with a total of 4,500 beneficiaries expected to undergo training at various institutions.
The state govt is already designed to support unemployed graduates through Yuvanidhi scheme, offering a monthly stipend of Rs 3,000 for graduates and Rs 1,500 for diploma holders. Now they can also avail skill training by various institutions such as the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development of Karnataka (Cedok), GTTC, Karnataka German Technical Training Institute, KGTTI, Industrial Training Institute (ITI).
Cedok will train 1,000 candidates in the state and conduct 30 programmes in each district. A 30-day thematic (beautician) skill development training programme was launched for Yuvanidhi beneficieries, in partnership with Komal beauty academy, Rajatagiri, Dharwad, training for 30 candidates, starting on Feb 3.
Chandrasekhar Angadi, joint director, Cedok, Dharwad, said that they started training for fashion designing, and will teach about sewing machines, maintenance of sewing machines, seams and stitches, pattern making, cutting techniques, how to take measurements, understanding fabric, trimming, marking and laying on fabric, cutting of fabric, trial of garments, and alteration defects and remedies.
Soundarya R and Saraswati Katkar, beneficiaries of the scheme said that they are learning beautician skills such as hair care and skin care, and this on-the-job training will help them start their own business, they added.
Principal of Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC), Maruti Bajantri, Hubballi, said that their programme for account executive and digital marketing, has enrolled 40 beneficiaries so far.
Skill development officer, Dharwad, RP Dyaberi, told TOI that there are around 4,500 beneficiaries of the scheme, for whom Yuvanidhi Plus was launched. Various institutions have begun skill training programme, he added.
