Hyderabad: Former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Sunday gave a clarion call to the party cadre in the Old City to guide jobless youth in getting government loans on subsidy, help poor families get ration cards, assist the families in getting reimbursements under Aarogyasri and be available to them at all times.
He was speaking after inaugurating Congress office in Charminar assembly constituency and announced party offices would be set up in every municipal ward of Old City.
With the mission of strengthening the party organisation in the Old City, the stronghold of Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM party, ahead of 2023 assembly elections, Hyderabad district Congress president Sameer Waliullah along with Shabbir Ali said all arrangements would be made for successful conduct of ‘Haath se haath jodo’ yatra of the party from January 26 in Old City.
They also advised party workers to start a blood donors’ group to help needy patients. The Congress leaders and cadre in the Old City were told to acquaint themselves with the procedures involved to ensure people eligible to avail various government schemes or other help through various NGOs.
“The local leaders should be available for the people on a 24x7 basis to address their needs. Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy will address meetings in various parts of the Old City soon,” Shabbir Ali said.
Expressing serious concern over the exploitation of money lenders, who were charging over 10% daily interest, Shabbir advised the Congress leader to make arrangements to provide small interest-free loans to small vendors, auto drivers and others. “Go and tell the people what the previous Congress governments did for the development of the Old City and its residents,” said Shabbir Ali.
