HYDERABAD: The medical counselling is likely to run into rough weather this year as new government orders, GO Ms no. 184 and 185, issued on June 30 for admissions to management seats is in contravention of a Supreme Court order.
According to the GOs, the C-category seats (Management quota) can be filled by the managements of individual colleges or a committee of the managements in the order of merit.

This is in contravention of the SC order which said the management should select students for their quota, either on the basis of a common entrance test conducted by the state or by an association of colleges.
The AP Junior Doctors Association has demanded immediate amendment of GO 184 which allows non-aided private medical colleges to fill up C-category seats without considering the Eamcet merit list.
"If the government fails to amend the GOs, we will ensure that medical counselling is stalled," APJUDA president Dr K Rajashekar Reddy said. Counselling for medical admissions is likely to begin on July 17, said director of medical education Sashi Prabha. As the Medical Council of India is expected to announce its decision on renewal of recognition to 270 medical seats before July 17, the NTR University of Health Sciences is likely to conduct counselling from July 17, she said.
