Hyderabad: KPHB police arrested a 29-year-old woman for allegedly murdering her husband with the help of her sister and brother-in-law, and burying his body near Pragathi Nagar lake.
The accused, B Kavitha, 29, a labourer from Maithri Hills, her sister S Jyothy, 27, a watchwoman, and Jyothy's husband S Mallesh, 40, allegedly plotted to kill Kavitha's husband Sailu, 45, on April 18 at Jyothy's hut in Maithri Hills. The body was buried the next day.
Police were alerted by an auto driver the trio approached to transport the body. Kavitha was picked up from her husband's native village in Medak on Monday. Based on her confession, Jyothy and Mallesh were arrested from Nizampet, and the body was exhumed on Tuesday.
According to police, Kavitha had been estranged from Sailu for years due to marital issues and frequent insults from him and his family during visits. When Sailu decided to marry off his daughter to his sister's son, Kavitha objected and was warned not to interfere. She then conspired to eliminate him.
As per their plan, Kavitha lured Sailu to Hyderabad, promising work and money for the wedding. On April 18, after intoxicating him, Kavitha and Mallesh attempted to electrocute him using a binding wire connected to a power source. When he survived the jolt, Kavitha allegedly strangled him with Jyothy's help.
They later tried transporting the body by auto but buried it near the lake after the driver grew suspicious. The accused were remanded in judicial custody.
