Indore: As the
monsoon begins to retreat from northern parts of Madhya Pradesh, Indore and nearby regions are set to experience similar conditions in the coming days.
As per the previous forecast, monsoon withdrawal was expected in Indore and Ujjain divisions around Oct 5. But, a low-pressure area is expected to develop in the Bay of Bengal on Oct 4, which might bring light isolated spells of rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms for the next two days.
"The monsoon withdrawal in the state might get affected slightly due to the low-pressure area that is being developed in the Bay of Bengal in the next two-three days. On Wednesday, the monsoon has withdrawn from Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Datia, Shivpuri, and Sheopur Kalan," said IMD Bhopal in-charge director Dr Vedprakash Singh.
On Wednesday, the day temperature climbed to 34 degrees Celsius, which was normal, while the night temperature also rose to 23.5 degrees Celsius, which was 3 degrees above the normal average.
With clear skies, the morning temperature at 8.30 am also increased to 26.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The city also witnessed fog in the early morning hours as visibility reduced to 100 metres.
As per the forecast from IMD, isolated light rainfall is expected on Oct 5 and 6 in Indore, Ratlam, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Burhanpur, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Khargone, Khandwa, Barwani, Jhabua, and Alirajpur. Throughout the first week of Oct, daytime temperatures are expected to remain high, causing significant warmth during the day, especially between 11am and 3pm.
Maximum temperature is expected to stay between 29 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius, making it a hot period during the monsoon's withdrawal. However, local weather systems might trigger brief spells of rain lasting 5-7 minutes in some parts of the city.
The second half of the month will bring more noticeable changes in weather, particularly at night. By the end of October, night temperature is expected to drop significantly, providing much-needed relief from the heat. Historically, in the last 10 years, night temperature in Indore has dipped below 20 degrees Celsius only in the last week of Oct, usually between Oct 24 and 31. As the month progresses, cooler evenings will become more common.
