Jaisalmer: Union culture and tourism minister
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat announced at a press conference in Barmer Monday that tourism ministry's Vibrant Village programme had been expanded to include border villages in Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Sriganganagar districts. He said both the Union and state govts were committed to boosting tourism in Rajasthan.
Shekhawat highlighted that while tourism falls under state jurisdiction, the Union govt has sanctioned all proposals forwarded by the state govt, such as for development of Khatu Shyam Ji Temple and Tanot Mata Temple, and subsequent state proposals shall remain a priority. "Under PM Narendra Modi's stewardship, the initiative to develop 50 iconic destinations was incorporated in this year's Budget," he said.
