No more bus stand at Narayan Singh Circle
Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority's (JDA) traffic control board has approved the relocation of the bus stand from Narayan Singh Circle to a site near Rotary Circle, Transport Nagar, effective April 1.
TOI was the first to report on Feb 13 that traffic police had commenced preparations for the bus stand's relocation.
From April 1, buses travelling to Agra and Delhi will play from the vacant plot near Rotary Circle on Delhi Road.
JDA officials said the bus stop will be shitfted from Narayan Singh Circle but routes of buses have not been changed as of now and buses will ply from the same route.
In Jan, the chief minister had asked the traffic and transport departments and other stakeholders to find alternative routes for city traffic, especially buses travelling from Sindhi Camp bus stand to Delhi Road and Agra Road. This was done as part of decongesting Narayan Singh Circle on Tonk Road, which is a heavy traffic junction in the city. On average, over 1,000 buses ply from Sindhi Camp bus stand to Delhi Road and Agra Road and vice versa daily and Narayan Singh Circle has served as a major stopover for these buses for years.
To manage the growing number of e-rickshaws in the city, authorities have mandated the installation of QR code stickers. These codes, when scanned, will provide comprehensive vehicle information, with DOIT developing a monitoring system.
During Thursday's official meeting, discussions included expanding minibus services on 16 existing routes in Jaipur city, approved by RTO Jaipur (I). A JDA release said, "The scope for four-wheelers on 8 routes for urban tempo (8 to 10 seater) has been increased. Along with this, a decision was taken to determine a place for the stand of e-rickshaws."
