JAMSHEDPUR: Vinay Singh, 48, the national vice president and state president of Rajput Karni Sena, was found shot dead on the outskirts of Jamshedpur late Sunday night.
The incident occurred near Punjab hotel in Baliguma under MGM police station jurisdiction. Singh's body was discovered in a field approximately 200 meters from Gorgora chowk along National Highway (NH-33).
Police recovered a pistol from the deceased's possession and his scooty parked at the scene. SSP Kaushal Kishore confirmed that the body has been sent to MGM hospital for postmortem, and an investigation is in progress.
Following the incident, agitated Karni Sena members and Singh's supporters staged a protest by blocking NH-33 at Dimna, causing extensive traffic congestion on the Ranchi-Kolkata highway.
Singh, a resident of Mango area and a local trader, was a prominent figure in the Karni Sena and actively participated in Hindu organization events. His death has sparked tension in the region, with supporters demanding immediate action.
The circumstances surrounding Singh's death remain unclear, and authorities are investigating all possible angles. Local police have increased security in the area to maintain law and order.
