KANPUR: A 34-year-old man was killed while five other members of his family were injured when the car they were travelling in lost control, hit a barricade and fell on a road at an undepass on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Etawah late Friday night.
Police said Ishaan Dev Mishra (34) along with his relative Pooja Tiwari (34) and the latter’s three children — Akshat (12), Amok Dev Tiwari (14), Naman (11) — and a relative Roshan Lal, had left for Mathura from Ayodhya.
On the way, at the 113.6 km milestone of Chaubia police station area, at around 11.15 pm, suddenly a herd of cattle came in front of the car due to which the driver lost control over the vehicle and the mishap happened.
The body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem examination, police said. Ishaan died on the spot in the accident, while everyone else sustained critical wounds.
All the injured have been sent to Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Science in Saifai. On the information, SSP Jaiprakash Singh and SP (Rural) reached the spot in the night itself and supervised the rescue operation. “The family members of the victims have been informed about the incident, further investigations are underway,” the SSP said.
