Jackal’s head stuck in plastic jar, bid to rescue

Kanpur: The sighting of a jackal with a plastic container stuck on its face caused panic in Sadar Kotwali police station area in Hamirpur district.
The jackal was seen roaming on the City Forest road in Sadar Kotwali area of Hamirpur, its face trapped in a plastic container. Some villagers while passing by on a bike recorded a video of the jackal.
On receiving information, a team from the forest department arrived at the site and was engaged in the rescue operation.The incident came to light when bikers passing by the forest recorded a video of the jackal and made it viral on social media.
Some people tried to remove the plastic jar from its face, but were feared it might attack. People kept running after the jackal, but no one dared to approach it. Later, the forest department's Divisional Forest Officer deployed teams for rescue.
DFO A K Srivastava said that the area was dense and large. He added that on finding the jackal, the rescue teams will surround it and free it from the plastic jar.
