Marudhar Exp develops snag, rail traffic disrupted

Train traffic was disrupted on the Delhi -Howrah rail route after the engine of the Marudhar Express developed a snag near Achhalda railway station in Auraiya district on Friday morning. The operation of trains going from Kanpur to Etawah, Agra, Delhi was affected.

Kanpur: Train traffic was disrupted on the Delhi -Howrah rail route after the engine of the Marudhar Express developed a snag near Achhalda railway station in Auraiya district on Friday morning. The operation of trains going from Kanpur to Etawah, Agra, Delhi was affected. The Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express was stopped at Kanchausi, while other trains were halted at other stations.
After informing the Tundla control room, another engine was arranged and train traffic restored to normalcy.

Later, the Marudhar Express proceeded for an onward journey.
Rail traffic was affected for about one and a half hours. Railway sources informed that at around 7.10 am, the engine of Marudhar Express suddenly failed near Achhalda station. The train stopped at Achhalda station’s outer signal and as soon as the information was received, there was chaos among the railway staff at the station. Station master Achhalda -Amit Kumar said that the train was heading to Achhalda station from Pata station and engine failed.
Apart from the Tundla control room, a demand of another engine was made by passing on the information to Rail staff at the Jhinjhak station, he said. “A goods train that was stationed at the Phaphund station was taken to the loop line and its engine was sent to Achhalda station. The engine of the goods train then was connected to the Marudhar Express. It later proceeded on an onward journey. Subsequently, the situation gradually became normal,” said the station master. TNN
