Owner of private hospital arrested for patient’s death

The owner-cum-incharge of a private hospital in Pheelkhana was arrested due to alleged carelessness in treating a patient, leading to her death on Friday. According to the family members, wrong administering of vaccine lead to the death of the patient.

KANPUR: The owner-cum-incharge of a private hospital in Pheelkhana was arrested due to alleged carelessness in treating a patient, leading to her death on Friday. According to the family members, wrong administering of vaccine lead to the death of the patient.
Shashi Verma, wife of Kanchan Lal Verma, peshkar of SP (traffic) was admitted in Moti Hospital in Pheelkhana area a few days back.

She sustained burn wounds in an accident and fingers of her right hands got badly injured. After initial treatment, Kanchan Lal agreed to get his wife's hand operated to remove burn spots.
“The doctor accepted my proposal and conducted a surgery on Shashi on April 26. She was admitted in the hospital after operation. Later, a compounder came in wee hours on Friday and administered an injection to my wife. A few minutes after the administration of injection, she succumbed,” claimed Kanchan Lal.
He added that the compounder tried to escape but was caught by the hospital staff. However, the hospital authorities initially tried to negotiate with the family members.The kin of the patient called the police. They also created ruckus in the hospital.
The kin logged an FIR against the hospital in-charge, Dr Nirmal Kherdia and compounder Shiv Mohan under Section 304, blaming them for the Shashi's death.
