Kottayam: A job aspirant from Alappuzha district was asked to reach a lodge in Kottayam, from where was abducted and brutally beaten up for money. Mannar police arrested four natives of Kottayam district in connection with the incident.
Police identified the arrested persons as Ratheesh Chandran, 44, and Sanjay Saji, 27, both Kooroppada natives, and VK Nikhil, 38, and Manu K Baby, 34, both Veloor natives.
Mannar-native Prashanth, 35, was called to a lodge in Kottayam with the promise of a job on April 10. When he reached there, he was bundled into a car and brutally assaulted. The accused demanded money and gold from him. Prashanth received serious injuries to his face and eye and suffered a fracture to his jawbone.
Meanwhile, Prashanth's family filed a man-missing case at Mannar police station. When the accused realised that police were searching for Prashanth, they abandoned him on the roadside and escaped. Police later nabbed the accused and also seized the car in which Prashanth was abducted.
During the probe, it came to light that Prashanth got acquainted with Chandran when he stayed at Mannar some time ago.
