Avalanche victim’s body reaches home
Kolkata: Body of Maniktala resident Pritam Maity (38), one of the seven who had died after being caught in an avalanche in East Sikkim on Tuesday, was flown into Kolkata airport on Thursday and then taken to his native place at Ramnagar in East Midnapore.
Body of the other Bengali tourist, Sourav Roy Chowdhury, who was from Siliguri, had reached his home on Wednesday evening.

Family members said Maity was an executive with a private electrical contractor who lived with his wife and daughter at a rented accommodation in Maniktala. His parents live at Sagareshwar village in Ramnagar.
He had come to his village last week for Ram Navami celebration and came back to Kolkata on Friday, From Kolkata, he went to Sikkim with his colleagues on a vacation.
After his body was extracted out of the snow on Tuesday evening, his family members were informed by the Sikkim government. Maity’s sister and uncle went to Gangtok to collect his body on Wednesday.
Chief minister Mamata Banerjee had expressed condolence after the deaths and promised to keep in touch with the family members.
