KOLKATA: Trinamool activist Debabrata Ghosh was shot at by goons at Natun Bazar in Barrackpore on Saturday. He was admitted to RG Kar Medical College in a critical condition. No one has been arrested in this connection yet.
Police said the incident took place around 8.30pm when Ghosh alias Laltu was standing in front of a local club along with local councillor Abhijit Majumdar and Laltu's brother Paltu Ghosh.

Three miscreants came on a motor bike and fired indiscriminately at the trio. Two bullets struck Laltu while Majumdar and Paltu escaped unhurt. Locals rushed him to Barrackpore BN Bose Hospital. He was shifted to RG Kar after his condition deteriorated. "Laltu is well known in the locality as an active Trinamool worker. He raised his voice against criminal activities in the locality because of which the goons tried to murder him," said Majumdar, the councillor of ward no 20.
A police team led by Barrackpore ASP Joy Biswas came to the spot for investigation. "The motive behind the attack could not be ascertained,. Local miscreants could be involved in the attack. Raids are being conducted to nab the culprits
" a police official said.
