Presi alumni to celebrate Ray’s birth centenary

Kolkata: The Presidency Alumni Association will be celebrating the birth centenary of Satyajit Ray on September 16 at Derozio Hall with a panel discussion and a special screening of Goutam Ghose’s documentary ‘Ray: Life and Works of Satyajit Ray’ (1999)’. Ray was an alumnus of the economics department of Presidency College, who passed in the year 1939.
The event ‘Rescued by Ray’ will have a discussion session where eminent personalities like Aparna Sen, Saurav Sarangi, Goutam Ghose and Shoma A Chatterjee will speak on Ray filling the void in Indian cinema and sensing the vacuum thereafter.It will be moderated by filmmaker Ashoke Viswanathan and chaired by Swapan Kumar Datta, vice chancellor of Biswa Bangla University. tnn
