KOZHIKODE: The Kerala Private (Aided) School Managers Association has come out in support of the manager of the Malapparamba AUP School, P K Padmarajan who is facing arrest for demolishing the 140-year-old school building.
Association district president K P Bhaskaran and secretary K Gokulan said at a press meet on Friday that the order issued by Kozhikode deputy director of education to disqualify the manager does not have any legal standing.

Bhaskaran said that Padmarajan ceased to be the manager of the school after government sanctioned the closure of the school citing that it was uneconomical.
He added that the school manager does not have to take permission from anyone to demolish the school building once the government sanctions the close down of the school.
"The manager has acted only as per the law. The school could have survived if the people who are now protesting against the demolition of the school had sent their children there instead of admitting them in private schools," he added.
He said it was the wrong policies of the state government, which led to the closure of many schools.
"The managers are getting only Rs 3.25 from every child for carrying out the yearly maintenance of the schools. There are 305 schools in the district which are uneconomical," he said.
