Kozhikode: Wayanad MP
Priyanka Gandhi said
Congress party will fully support any action the Centre takes in response to the
Pahalgam terror attack. Priyanka, who is on a two-day visit to Wayanad, said CWC had passed a resolution in this regard. "We hope that they take action soon," she said in response to a media query.
On Centre's move to conduct caste census, she said it is a welcome step provided it is done properly. "I think as opposition we would be involved in the way the questions are structured. Some suggestions will be made and hopefully govt will accept them," she said.
Priyanka handed over the keys of an ambulance bought with MP fund to Wayanad wildlife warden Varun Dalia at Sulthan Bathery. She also visited the animal hospice centre at Bathery, where tigers straying into human habitats are captured and kept by forest department. Forest officers told her that the centre currently houses more tigers than its designed capacity.
Meanwhile, the son and daughter-in-law of former Wayand DCC treasurer NM Vijayan who committed suicide, said that they were not allowed to meet Priyanka and express the concerns over the delay in honouring the assurances given by party leaders about resolving Vijayan's financial burden. Priyanka had visited the family in Jan.
Priyanka, who landed at Calicut airport on Saturday night, stopped her convoy after noticing a car accident in Engapuzha. She called a doctor to examine the injured and give them first aid. The accident occurred when Koyilandy native Noushad's car collided with another car at Engapuzha.
