Woman killed, husband severely injured as car rams into parked lorry at Ponnani

Kozhikode: A woman was killed and her husband sustained serious injuries after the car they were travelling in collided with a parked truck at Karimbana in Ponnani on Friday morning.
The deceased is Pathanamthitta native Siya Reji, 30. Her husband, Kannur native Nikhil, was admitted to a private hospital at Kottakkal. The couple's one-year-old daughter also sustained minor injuries.
According to police, the family was travelling from Kuttipuram to Chavakkad along the under construction national highway stretch when the car rammed into the rear of the truck, which was parked without any signal or light at 4.15am.
Ponnani police registered a case against the truck driver under sections 125 (Act endangering life of personal safety of others), 125 (a), 125 (b) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the BNS.
