Cause of accident not known yet: Northern Railway

LUCKNOW: Reacting to the derailment of Farakka Express, chief public relations officer (CPRO) NR, Deepak Kumar said, "The cause of the derailment is not yet known."

Meanwhile, railway minister Piyush Goyal has ordered an inquiry by Commissioner Railway Safety, Northern Circle, to find the cause of the accident.CM Yogi Adityanath announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for injured passengers.

The derailment has affected the Rae Bareli-Pratapgarh route. At least 13 trains were cancelled or short terminated/originated on Wednesday. Prominent among these include Lucknow-Allahabad Ganga Gomti Express and Lucknow-Varanasi Intercity and passenger trains. Ganga Gomti Express, Kanpur-Pratapgarh Express and Bareilly-Prayag Express will remain cancelled on Thursday also.

, Lucknow-Yashvantpur Superfast Express, Varanasi-New Delhi KV Express, Punjab Mail,
