LUCKNOW: Lucknow University on Wednesday wrote to Hasanganj police station to lodge an FIR against expelled students whose hoardings have been put up outside the campus in which they have described themselves as LU student leaders.
Three hoardings had come up around LU campus around a month ago when counselling for admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate courses had begun.
The hoardings have welcome messages for the freshers on behalf of Ashish Mishra alias Boxer and Vipul Baliyan, two former students of LU who were expelled in 2018 for their alleged involvement in indiscipline and criminal activities.
In the complaint to police, LU stated that since Mishra and Baliyan are no longer students, the act of describing themselves as LU student leaders amounted to misrepresentation of facts. It also said that as the two had been involved in violent incidents on the campus in the past, their hoardings had created an “atmosphere of fear” among teachers and students.
The decision to lodge the FIR was taken at a meeting by a committee which comprises officers of LU and the district administration.
It was also decided that the district administrative officials will get the hoardings removed with the help of Lucknow Municipal Corporation.
“The expelled student leaders featured in the hoardings have several criminal cases like extortion and assault pending against them in courts,” said LU registrar SK Shukla. While Boxer was involved in a violent attack on university professors on July 4 last year, Baliyan was named in several incidents of violence and clashes in hostels and mess, he added.
Hasanganj police outpost in charge Abhay Kumar Singh confirmed the cases.
The three hoardings also have pictures of four other students, Rohit Suryavanshi, Abhishek Tiwari, Mohd Miraaj and Ayush Mishra, who have been served show-cause notices several times for being involved in various incident of indiscipline.
The hoarding has been sponsored by Prabhat Mishra, Boxer’s elder brother, who is a contractor.
