Policy to promote use of eco-friendly, low cost MSand soon

LUCKNOW: The UP government is set to frame a policy to promote MSand for real estate industry and senior officials of mining department held consultations with leading stakeholders in the MSand business in this regard on Wednesday. Manufactured sand (M-Sand) is artificial sand produced from crushing hard stones into sand-size particles, washed and finely graded to be used as construction aggregate.
A cost-effective and eco-friendly building material, MSand is used as an alternative to river sand (maurang). Construction firms in Karnataka and Maharashtra have already switched to MSand.
As a solution to dredging of river beds, MSand will be manufactured through rejects and remains of dolomite rocks, granite and other stones . “Quality of MSand is going to be better than river sand,” said director of the geology and mining directorate, Roshan Jacob.
“It is helpful in increasing the life span of concrete structures,” said mining additional director Vipin Kumar Jain.
