LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration (LESA) on Thursday disconnected power supply to the Gomti Nagar railway station on Thursday over pending dues of about Rs 2 lakh.
Unhappy over the LESA's act, railway authorities wrote back to the senior officers of the power distribution company and said that they should have been informed in advance about the disconnection.
However, LESA officials claimed that the every electricity bill already has a mention of the last due date for the payment and they have the right to disconnect the power supply over non-payment after due date.
The officials further told that the Gomti Nagar railway station had made a payment of Rs 6 lakh out of the total pending bill of Rs 8 lakhs. Gomti Nagar SDO told that the connection was disconnected over the pending amount of Rs 2 lakh.
Meanwhile, the passenger had a tough time due to lack of power supply in the station premises. Rising mercury and darkness on platforms added to their woes.
